Homesteading Milling Pickling Canning and Cooking Camp all in One Place

cooking class

Saturday afternoon at the The King’s Roost in Silver Lake was a wonderful cooking experience for my Jr. Chefs and OH SO MUCH MORE!

My hubby Matt and I were shopping while Izzy and Cruz learned to grind their own flower from organic grains, and make tortillas from scratch. There were so many delicious smells and unique decorations to investigate. With 3 other adults watching over our kids in the kitchen, I experienced a total mom-dream-come-true as I shopped and sampled and talked with Matt about possibly raising chickens in our backyard. The magic happened inside the special little find that I highly recommend, whether you have kids or not.

The King’s Roost is just behind the Echo Bark shop, in a two story building filled with interesting little stores. Inside you’ll fall in love with all the gadgets and education for the urban “farm-curious” Los Angelino. It’s also where the lovely Scheherazade of The Delightful Table teaches cooking lessons regularly to grown-ups. During the Summer she’s offering a special camp for kids. cooking class

My family had such a good experience with Scheherazade that I just have to tell you about the camp. The Vegan tacos they made yesterday (totally from scratch!) were better than anything I’ve ever cooked. My kids were happy.. Our Family was treated to a healthy dinner..  And our eyes were opened to so many new options for fresh eating at home.

DELIGHTFUL TABEL’s COOKING SUMMER CAMP focuses on developing confidence in our budding chefs while also having lots of fun! Classes cover the basics of cooking, proper tools and equipment, kitchen safety and cleanliness, meal planning, and cuisines from all over the world. The menus are designed to expose our young chefs to new techniques, flavors and ingredients so that they can become well rounded and highly skilled junior chefs. A great addition to any home kitchen!
