Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA threw another amazing Party on The Pier last weekend. We celebrated 16 years of fundraising with the stars under the SoCal sun, with friends & family.
We were checked-in & given festive lariats. Welcomed into the (UCLA) party with fanfare & paparazzi. You could feel the energy coming from inside the big white tent. Walking the “Blue Carpet” with celebs like Sofie Reynolds from Disney XD’s Gamers Guide, Lauren Taylor from Disney Channel’s Best Friends Whenever, Skai Jackson from JESSIE, Francesca Capaldi from Dog With A Blog & so many more famous kids that made me the coolest mom ever according to my 7 yr old Izzy. As she get’s older those moments may become more rare, so I’ll take it!
Once inside it was all Dodger blue in the VIP tent with catered salads, desserts, and cold drinks. Each table had a centerpiece of mini Dodger baseball batts and a few of the table actually had real Dodgers players sitting at them! I just happen to sit near Tim Leary. Totally random of course. It had nothing to do with my husband “Fireman Matt” being a major sports fan or that we both grew up in LA in the 80’s with Dodger-mania. GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The place really was packed with a record breaking attendance & the funds raised topped all other years to date; over $1 million dollars! Mattel really throws a generous party with all the toys a kid could dream of. Santa Monica offers the perfect location. Industry insiders donated insane packages for the silent auction like Tickets to (my fave) iHeart Radio Music Awards & VIP passes to Dancing With The Stars and more..
Celeb Moms & Dads walked the carpet and show their support. Sarah Michelle Gellar walked the Blue Carpet with her always adorable son Rocky. She happily stopped for interviews looking so fresh and pretty in a comfy-chic floral dress. And you know we had to pose for some shots. Actually I think everyone just wanted to see Rocky. So adorbs.
This was a beautiful day and a huge success thanks to so many wonderful people who make it happen here, on the pier, every year. Extra special thanks personally to Dustin Judy for handling media so masterfully & always with a smile (How does she do that?!) & MomAngeles for introducing me to this organization & for helping to get the word out in a major way! And of course Barbie for being so sweet to my shy lil guy who I think has his first crush now 😉
If you would like to learn more about MCH UCLA & want an invite to attend next year just listen to my show with their spokesperson Danielle Dietz who is absolutely amazing. This is a cause you will want to be a part of however you can be, and Mattel makes this event an exceptionally fun way to do it. Hope to see you & your family on next year!
